Sherman Mills artist EMILY SELVIN, founder and creative force behind Selvin Glass, has been a pioneer and expert stained glass glazier for well over a decade. Finding her artistic beginnings in painting and printmaking at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Selvin discovered a natural transition into the glass medium. She found particular inspiration in its relationship to light.

“I’ve always been mesmerized by the beautiful and often hypnotic effects that occur as sunlight plays with glass objects, casting rainbows and throwing beautiful pure color reflections throughout a room“, explains Emily.

Philadelphia has been home to Selvin Glass, a leading full-service glass studio since 1998. Specializing in historic restoration and designing site-specific custom designs, Emily Selvin creates distinctive glass by blending old world techniques into contemporary forms. Most recently Emily has been commissioned to complete the restoration of the windows at West Park Church. The restoration is all part of the church’s relocation to 4017 Chestnut Street.

Emily Selvin leads a diverse team of talented artisans who complement her work. Nathaniel Lee is head of the restoration department. Currently he and Emily are focused on the huge project of restoring West Park Church’s stained glass 19th Century windows. In addition to Nathaniel, Emily is supported by her design assistant Suzi Foster, as well as Kristin Kline who heads Selvin Glass’ line of retail products. The retail product line consists of custom mosaics, light fixtures and unique bowls and dishes.

All of these items are available for purchase by contacting Selvin Glass.
Selvin Glass is located in Building , 3011 at Sherman Mills at East Falls. Emily can be reached at 215.713.2633 and eglassworks@msn.com.
